Both male and female cats and rabbits are routinely neutered from five months of age.

Female dogs can be spayed from six months, early neutering significantly reduces the risk of mammary tumours and prevents false pregnancies and womb infections (pyometra). We do not like operating when your pet is in season as she loses more blood, ideally we wait until 8 weeks after the end of the season.

Castrating dogs reduces the roaming instinct and make them less excitable. Dogs can be castrated from six monthsof age.

Whilst neutering will not cause your dog to become obese they do require less to eat after surgery to maintain a good healthy weight.
